Many of our clients are high-functioning people โ professionals, parents, students, and carers who are keeping things together on the surface while quietly running on empty. You might be meeting every obligation, showing up for everyone else, and managing from the outside โ while inside feeling exhausted, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that are difficult to understand or shift.
You do not need a crisis, a diagnosis, or the right words before you reach out. If something feels off, that is enough to begin.
Mood & Mind Psychology also works with young people โ including tweens, teenagers, and young adults โ and their families. We regularly support adolescents navigating identity, relationships, academic pressure,
and emotional difficulties, and work collaboratively with parents and treating teams where appropriate.

Our psychologists work across a range of mental health presentations, with particular depth in trauma, anxiety, and the emotional patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves and others.

Prolonged pressure, high responsibility, and sustained emotional demands can lead to exhaustion and disconnection. We work with professionals and carers experiencing burnout and workplace mental health difficulties.

Depression affects mood, energy, motivation, and how you engage with daily life. With the right support, meaningful change is possible.

Patterns of fear of abandonment, emotional guardedness, or difficulty trusting others often have deep roots. Therapy provides a space to understand and shift these cycles.

High self-criticism, fear of making mistakes, and feelings of inadequacy despite clear competence are common presentations. We help clients move from pressure-driven performance toward genuine self-confidence.

Intense emotional reactions, mood shifts, and difficulty regulating feelings are often signs of a nervous system under sustained strain โ not a character flaw.

Persistent self-doubt, uncertainty about direction, or a gap between how capable you appear externally and how you feel internally are areas we work with regularly.

We work with tweens and teenagers navigating anxiety, identity, academic pressure, and emotional difficulties, with collaboration with parents and treating professionals where helpful.
Mood & Mind Psychology has developed a strong reputation among GPs, case managers, and allied health professionals across inner Melbourne. Referrers consistently choose us for the depth of our trauma-focused approach, the quality of our clinical team, and the care and responsiveness with which clients are supported.

Our team has deep expertise in trauma and relational trauma โ the kind of presentations that require more than surface-level intervention. We use EMDR, Schema Therapy, CPT, and somatic approaches, tailored to each person's
history and needs.

Every psychologist at Mood & Mind is AHPRA-registered. Our clinical psychologists hold the highest level of registration available in Australia, with specialist postgraduate training in clinical psychology.

We understand that when someone is ready to seek support, delays make a real difference. We aim to offer appointments within a week of enquiry.

See us in person at our Hawthorn clinic, or access appointments via secure telehealth from anywhere in Australia. Both options are available to new clients.

You do not need a GP referral to book. Self-referrals are welcome. If you are eligible for a Mental Health Treatment Plan, your GP can provide one before or after your first session to access Medicare rebates.

We have established working relationships with GPs, case managers, specialists, and allied health providers across inner Melbourne. Referrers value our responsiveness, clinical quality, and the collaborative way we work with treating teams.
At Mood & Mind, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Your experience, your history, and your goals are unique โ and your therapy should reflect that.
Our psychologists are trained in a range of evidence-based approaches and draw on what is most appropriate for each person. This includes EMDR for trauma processing, Schema Therapy for understanding deep-rooted patterns, CBT and ACT for anxiety and depression, somatic methods for working with the body, and Parts Work / Internal Family Systems where relevant.
What runs through all of it is a shared philosophy: therapy works best when people feel safe, understood, and not judged. We take the time to build genuine connection before anything else.
Every psychologist at Mood & Mind is fully registered and selected for their clinical
excellence, warmth, and commitment to the latest therapeutic evidence.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD. It works by helping the brain process distressing memories that have not been fully integrated. Whether EMDR is appropriate for you is something your psychologist will assess at your initial sessions โ it is not the right fit for everyone and is always introduced carefully and collaboratively.
