WHO WE HELP

You Don't Have to Look Broken to Need Support

Many of our clients are high-functioning people โ€” professionals, parents, students, and carers who are keeping things together on the surface while quietly running on empty. You might be meeting every obligation, showing up for everyone else, and managing from the outside โ€” while inside feeling exhausted, disconnected, or stuck in patterns that are difficult to understand or shift.

You do not need a crisis, a diagnosis, or the right words before you reach out. If something feels off, that is enough to begin.

Mood & Mind Psychology also works with young people โ€” including tweens, teenagers, and young adults โ€” and their families. We regularly support adolescents navigating identity, relationships, academic pressure,

and emotional difficulties, and work collaboratively with parents and treating teams where appropriate.

Adults &

Professionals

Individuals navigating stress, burnout,

trauma, anxiety, relationship difficulties,

and the weight of high-responsibility

roles.

Young People &

Adolescents

Tweens, teenagers, and young adults experiencing anxiety, identity challenges, emotional difficulties, and the

pressures of growing up.

Families and Parents

We work collaboratively with parents

and families, particularly where young

people are involved, to support the

whole person within their

relational context.

OUR SERVICES

What We Help With

Our psychologists work across a range of mental health presentations, with particular depth in trauma, anxiety, and the emotional patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves and others.

Trauma Therapy and EMDR

Trauma does not always follow the shape people expect. You may not have a single defining event to point to โ€” sometimes the impact is more cumulative, relational, or subtle. But equally real. Our trauma-focused psychologists use evidence-based approaches including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and somatic methods to help you process past experiences and build greater emotional steadiness and safety.

Anxiety, Overthinking and Stress

Anxiety can show up as persistent worry, overthinking, physical tension, difficulty sleeping, or a constant sense of being on edge โ€” even when there is no obvious threat. We help you understand what is driving the anxiety and develop practical tools to reduce its impact on your daily life and relationships.

Burnout and Workplace Stress

Prolonged pressure, high responsibility, and sustained emotional demands can lead to exhaustion and disconnection. We work with professionals and carers experiencing burnout and workplace mental health difficulties.

Depression and Low Motivation

Depression affects mood, energy, motivation, and how you engage with daily life. With the right support, meaningful change is possible.

Relationship Anxiety and Trust Difficulties

Patterns of fear of abandonment, emotional guardedness, or difficulty trusting others often have deep roots. Therapy provides a space to understand and shift these cycles.

Perfectionism and Imposter Syndrome

High self-criticism, fear of making mistakes, and feelings of inadequacy despite clear competence are common presentations. We help clients move from pressure-driven performance toward genuine self-confidence.

Emotional Intensity and Anger

Intense emotional reactions, mood shifts, and difficulty regulating feelings are often signs of a nervous system under sustained strain โ€” not a character flaw.

Self-Esteem and Identity

Persistent self-doubt, uncertainty about direction, or a gap between how capable you appear externally and how you feel internally are areas we work with regularly.

Adolescent Psychology

We work with tweens and teenagers navigating anxiety, identity, academic pressure, and emotional difficulties, with collaboration with parents and treating professionals where helpful.

HOW WE WORK

Evidence-Based, Heart-

Centered

At Mood & Mind, we do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Your experience, your history, and your goals are unique โ€” and your therapy should reflect that.

Our psychologists are trained in a range of evidence-based approaches and draw on what is most appropriate for each person. This includes EMDR for trauma processing, Schema Therapy for understanding deep-rooted patterns, CBT and ACT for anxiety and depression, somatic methods for working with the body, and Parts Work / Internal Family Systems where relevant.

What runs through all of it is a shared philosophy: therapy works best when people feel safe, understood, and not judged. We take the time to build genuine connection before anything else.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Everything You Need to Know

How soon can I get an appointment?

No. Self-referrals are welcome โ€” book directly without a GP referral. If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, bring it along to access Medicare rebates.

Do I need a referral to book an appointment?

No. Self-referrals are welcome โ€” you can book directly without a GP referral. If you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, bring it along to access Medicare rebates. If you do not have one yet, your GP can provide it before or after your first session.

Do you offer telehealth?

Yes. Secure telehealth appointments are available to clients across Victoria and Australia. Both in-person and telehealth options are available to new clients.

What is EMDR and is it right for me?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy for trauma and PTSD. It works by helping the brain process distressing memories that have not been fully integrated. Whether EMDR is appropriate for you is something your psychologist will assess at your initial sessions โ€” it is not the right fit for everyone and is always introduced carefully and collaboratively.

Do you work with young people?

Yes. We work with tweens, teenagers, and young adults, and regularly collaborate with parents and families as part of the therapeutic process. If you are enquiring on behalf of a young person, please call us to discuss.

What funding options are accepted?

We accept Medicare rebates (with a Mental Health Treatment Plan), DVA, WorkCover, TAC, NDIS, and private health insurance extras. Free support is also available for eligible emergency services personnel.

Where are you located?

We are located at 37 Queens Ave, Hawthorn VIC 3122 โ€” on the corner of Queens Ave and Auburn Rd. We serve clients from across inner Melbourne including Kew, Richmond, Camberwell, Toorak, South Yarra, Canterbury, Abbotsford, Balwyn, Glen Iris, Box Hill, and Deepdene.

Appointments are available within a week, and you are welcome to call us directly to talk through what you are looking for before committing to anything.
